Boarding and Training Packages
Audrey’s Barkyard offers two, boarding and training packages that are customized for each individual dog.
No two dogs need the exact same training, and we make sure that we cover the basics, customize a training plan, and reach your training goals. Our board and train programs can help train your dog on and off leash, recall and more. Reference our boarding page for details.

Our two-week board and train package is foundation training that’s on-leash. Your dog will be able to follow commands and tasks at home as well as in public settings.
Commands:
- Sit

- Stay
- Place (go to their training cot or bed until released)
- Loose Leash Walking (structured walk / no pulling)

Included in your board and train package is two one-hour training sessions with your trainer after the board and train is completed. You will also receive a one-hour refresher training session that can be used within one year from the time of boarding with us.
3 Week Board and Train Program (Most Popular)
Price: $2999
Our three-week board and train package targets both on and off-leash obedience. Your dog will be able to follow commands and tasks at home as well as in public settings. This is a more advanced program.
Commands:
- Sit
- Down
- Stay
- Place (go to their training cot or bed until released)
- Loose Leash Walking (structured walk / no pulling)
- Heel
- Recall (come when called) This package includes an e-collar (E-collar Technologies), prong collar and three one-hour training sessions with your trainer. E-collar educational training for you will be provided by your trainer over the course of the three after board and train sessions. We also include a one-hour refresher training session that can be used within one year from the time of boarding with us.
Private In-Home Dog Training
Prices for In Home Training:
In-Home Training Package: $440 / (4) 1-hour Sessions
Added 1-hour Sessions: $110 / 1-hour Session
Our In-Home Dog Training teaches your dog the behaviors ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘leave-it’, ‘recall’ (come command), ‘place’ (tells your dog to go to an identified spot and stay there until you give them the release word) and ‘loose’ leash walking’ (a nice, structured walk).
During your In-Home Consultation, your trainer will discuss the recommended training supplies needed before your first training session. The training tools that we use are a training collar (this can be a martingale collar, a slip collar or prong collar), a long line (this is a 10-15 foot leash for training ‘recall’ and other distance behaviors). An e-collar (electronic collar) is optional. Audrey’s Barkyard sells and recommends the Mini Educator or Micro Educator e-collar from E-collar Technologies. E-collar training may require added lessons beyond the 4 In-home lessons depending on your training level.
One of the major reasons to use an e-collar is it helps train your dog to stay in your yard and enjoy off leash freedom. An e-collar allows your dog to roam nearby, so you don’t have to worry about them running away. It really is the best communication device when used properly.
The biggest difference with private lessons as opposed to our ‘Board and Train’ program is you are your dog’s trainer! We will serve as your dog training coach and teacher. We guide as you train your dog, and we will help you to perform the lessons. This program is recommended for dog owners who have the time and patience to follow through on the lessons and practice the weekly assigned homework to reach your desired goals for your dog.
We will also address manners and help correct any of the following:
- Jumping on People
- Jumping on Furniture
- Door Rushing
- Leash Reactivity
- Excessive Barking
- Separation Anxiety
- Counter Surfing
Please note that these private lessons are not for serious dog aggressive cases. We would be happy to discuss a training plan or options with you for serious aggressive dogs.
Behavior Modification - Reactivity and Aggression In-Home Training for You and Your Dog
Price for Behavior Modification Training: $699
Pricing is for (6) one-hour sessions.
Additional one-hour sessions ($115 each).
Reactivity stems from fear. When a dog feels threatened and/or scared, the two natural responses will be fight or flight. Most dogs will try to put as much distance between themselves and the threat; if the threat remains, they will turn to aggression or submit. Other dogs are overly confident pack leaders and will turn first to aggression.
Audrey’s Barkyard offers a 6-week intensive course in dog training in Wake Forest and the surrounding area that will give your dog, and you, the skills, tools, obedience, and desensitization that will help you keep your dog calm when their triggers appear. You will learn the foundation to successfully interpret your dog’s body language, interrupt the fixation on the fear item and change the behavior through your newly acquired leadership style. The one-on-one training sessions with your trainer are one-hour sessions weekly for six weeks. If needed, added one-hour sessions can be purchased. You will receive weekly personalized lesson plans and review sheets to practice in between training sessions.

Meet Our Trainer!
We are thrilled to introduce you to Mark Herrmann, Audrey’s Barkyard’s Lead Trainer. Mark started learning about dog behavior at an early age. After observing his friend and his father training their hunting dogs on retrieving and obedience, Mark was amazed and hooked! This propelled Mark to open a dog boarding and training business. Mark also worked in the hospitality industry.
Over the years, Mark has studied under top professional dog trainers. Pat Nolan, the founder of Tactical Directional Canine Systems, worked with Mark and allowed him to learn advanced handling and obedience skills. Mark used these skills to work with his own Labrador Retriever, Reno. Reno placed in several competitions and was titled by the AKC as Field Champion and Master in Obedience.
Mark is known as a dog trainer that nurtures the human-canine bond. He is a reward-based, balanced dog trainer. He specializes in puppy development and training in all levels of obedience and behavior modification. Engagement and focus are the foundation of the training process, while keeping the lessons fun, even for the most distracted dogs.
Our Motto
Training should be an enjoyable experience for both the human and the dog!
Training Testimonials
Monica Slubicki
We were so lucky to find Mark Herrmann to train our dog. We are first time dog owners. Mark was approachable, thoughtful, a great communicator, knowledgeable, and dedicated to helping us. He also loves dogs. I called about a dozen places and when I spoke with Mark, I knew he was a good fit. He was very interested in hearing what we needed and what our dogs unique needs were. He had a set of lesson plans which he provided to us and these were helpful. He also made adjustments based on us and our dog. He spent time getting to know our dog and observing his personality, behavior, and temperament. He was good at giving us feedback on our practice. One of the best things about Mark is he really addressed the issues that all of us were facing with this new dog. For example, I have a history of being afraid of dogs, and my daughter loves dogs and always wants to play with them. I felt like Mark got to know us in just four sessions and he did become our friend. Later an issue came up with the dog and I contacted him just as he had said we could. He came to the house, free of charge, and helped with the issue which was a big relief! He contacted me later to follow up. He even checked in to see how our dog was doing after neutering surgery!
